About CLAT-2020:
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the most important entrance examination for all Law aspirants. This national level entrance exam is conducted each year for admission to undergraduate and post-graduate Law courses. CLAT 2020 exam notification has been released.
Currently, there are 22 National Law Universities (NLU) in India. Each of them considers CLAT scores for admissions to their UG and PG programs.
As per the official notification, the CLAT 2020 exam will be held on – 10th of May, 2020. NUSRL, Ranchi will conduct the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2020, the exam will be pen-and-paper based and of two hours duration. CLAT is conducted for admission to 5-year integrated law and LLM courses. The NLUs have a combined intake of around 2622 undergraduate and 720 postgraduate seats.
Aspirants have to know about the major changes to the CLAT exam pattern, including reduction in the number of questions for the UG test, which will now have 150 objective type questions instead of 200. Also, comprehension-based questions will be asked in both UG and PG exams. CLAT 2020 introduced cutoff marks for the PG objective paper. CLAT 2020 application form has started on January 1; last date for filling the online application form is March 31.

UG- CLAT 2020 Eligibility:
Introduction and Overview of exam:
The UG-CLAT 2020 would focus on evaluating the comprehension and reasoning skills and abilities of candidates. Overall, it is designed to be a test of aptitude and skills that are necessary for a legal education rather than prior knowledge, though prior knowledge occasionally may be useful to respond to questions in the Current Affairs section.
The UG-CLAT 2020 shall be a 2-hour test, with 150 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each. There shall be negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. These questions would be divided across the following 5 subjects:

In this section of the UG-CLAT 2020, you will be provided passages of about 450 words each. These passages will be derived from contemporary or historically significant fiction and non-fiction writing, and would be of a standard that a 12th standard student may be able to read in about 5-7 minutes.

Current Affairs Including General Knowledge:
In this section, you will be provided passages of up to 450 words each. The passages will be derived from news, journalistic sources and other non-fiction writing. The questions may include an examination of legal information or knowledge discussed in or related to the passage, but would not require any additional knowledge of the law beyond the passage.
Each passage will be followed by a series of questions that will require you to demonstrate your awareness of various aspects of current affairs and general knowledge, including:
Quantitative Techniques:
The Quantitative Techniques section of the UG-CLAT 2020 will include short sets of facts or propositions, graphs, or other textual, pictorial or diagrammatic representations of numerical information, followed by a series of questions. You will be required to derive information from such passages, graphs, or other representations, and apply mathematical operations on such information.

In this section, you will be expected to read passages of around 450 words each. The Admit Card/Hall ticket can be downloaded by the candidate by logging into his/her account. The exact date on which the hall tickets will be made available will be intimated on the website.
CLAT Online Application Form 2020:
The Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law courses offered by participating NLUs need to fill the application form of CLAT 2020, which has opened in online mode on January 1. Last date to fill CLAT application form is March 31. In such cases where the candidate fills more than one application form, only the last one will be considered.
Steps to fill CLAT application form
Application correction facility:
Last year exam conducting authorities didn't have a CLAT application correction window. So, it is unlikely CLAT application form correction facility will be available this year as well. Therefore, it is important that candidates take proper care when filling the CLAT 2020 application form so as to keep mistakes away.
CLAT Exam Centres 2020:
NUSRL, Ranchi will release the list of exam centres of CLAT 2020 where the national-level exam will be conducted. The exam will be conducted at more than 60 test centres across the country.
The candidate is generally allotted a CLAT test centre opted by him/her at the time of filling out the application form, unless there is an unforeseen event, in which case one will be allotted an alternate centre. Candidates can check the details of the allotted test centre, like name and address, on the CLAT admit card.
CLAT Answer Key 2020:
After the completion of CLAT exam, exam officials will first release provisional answer key of CLAT 2020. The provisional CLAT 2020 answer key of all the four paper codes - A, B, C, and D will be released and will contain code-wise keys to all questions asked in exam. UG and PG programs, answer keys will be released separately.
All candidates may go through the provisional CLAT 2020 answer keys and may compare their answers with the official version and thus calculate probable scores. Also, if the candidate feels like any key in the answer key is wrong, they may challenge the key (s). The final CLAT answer key 2020 will be published after considering all such grievances of candidates, before declaration of result.
CLAT Result 2020:
This year NUSRL, Ranchi, is the exam conducting body, will declare the result of CLAT 2020 on May 24. CLAT 2020 result can be checked online by logging into the official result portal by entering candidate’s application or registration number and date of birth. Important details like the qualifying status of the candidate, marks and rank obtained in the exam will be displayed in the CLAT result.
CLAT Merit List 2020:
The candidates who have appeared in the offline exam would be able to check CLAT 2020 merit list when the result will declaration. CLAT authorities will release a total of three provisional merit lists of CLAT 2020. Also, the merit lists would be institute-specific and contain details like the name of the merit list candidate, category, state and category-rank. The feature of CLAT merit rank 2020 is it will be used for shortlisting candidates for counselling and making seat allotments.
CLAT Counselling 2020:
NUSRL, Ranchi, is have authority for conducting the CLAT 2020 counselling and seat allotment process, which will be held only in online mode. The counselling process is open for the CLAT-qualified candidates only; eligible candidates would be issued counselling call letters, which have to be downloaded. The eligible candidate has to next get registered oneself for counselling, participate in choice filling and locking process. Once should take care when filling choices during counselling of CLAT, as apart from the merit rank, opted choices will also be taken into account when making seat allotments.
CLAT Seat Allotment 2020:
The admission conducting authority will make the seat allotment of CLAT 2020 for the 22 participating NLUs in three rounds, for both UG and PG courses. The first round of CLAT 2020 seat allotment will be declared sometime around the second week of June. CLAT seat allotment result would include details like the state (or All India) rank of the candidate, category, admit card number, and also the status of admission. All Candidates who have been allotted seats will have to pay the necessary fees and complete other formalities to confirm their seats. If any candidate who wishes to withdraw/shift seats can do so before the start of subsequent rounds of CLAT seat allotment 2020.
CLAT Cutoff 2020:
To get admission into a participating National Law University (NLU), the candidate needs to meet the CLAT 2020 cutoff for the particular institute in which he/she want to take admission and the category they belong to. It is because the CLAT cutoff 2020 is usually the last rank (or score) for which admission is offered. Any candidate who scores below the CLAT 2020 cutoff rank will have little chance of admission although some other universities also consider CLAT score for admission.

CLAT Participating Institutes 2020:
All 22 NLUs that are participating institutes of CLAT 2020; the NLUs are government institutes. As participating institutes, the NLUs will use CLAT 2020 scores for admitting of candidates to their undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs.
