Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra conducts an annual entrance exam BIT MCA, for admission to its 3 years MCA (Masters of Computer Applications) program. BIT MCA will be conducted in the first week of June in online mode.

BIT MCA Registration will begin from the first week of March. BIT MCA result will be declared in the third week of June 2020. 

BIT MCA Exam will grant candidates admission to BIT Mesra (Main Campus), BIT Noida, BIT Ranchi, BIT Jaipur.

Eligibility Criteria BIT MCA

Eligibility Criteria:

1) The candidates must have passed in Mathematics / Computer Science / Information Practices as one of the subjects in Class 12 (10+2) / Equivalent Examination.

2) Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification of any of the Universities. This degree must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling [Class 12 or equivalent] (10+2+3 system).

3) Candidates must have one of following qualifications:

a) Bachelor of Computer Applications, or

b) B.Sc. in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics, or

c) B.Sc. with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at graduate level.

4) Candidates with above mentioned qualifications (item-3) must have secure minimum 55% (50% for SC/ST/PwD) marks in aggregate in graduation, marks to be calculated as average of marks obtained in all subjects in which candidate has appeared.

5) Candidates with B.Sc. Honours must have minimum 55% (50% for SC/ST/ PwD) marks in average in their Honours subject.

6) Candidates appearing for final examinations of their Bachelor’s programme in current year can also apply, provided they have obtained requisite marks or equivalent (as per item 4 or 5 above) based on latest available grades / marks at the time of applying, and if selected can join the programme provisionally.

Note: At the time of reporting for the verification of documents cum-admission such an applicant must bring a certificate in original from the Principal of Institute stating that:

a) by Stipulated date (s)/he will have appeared for examination in all subjects required for obtaining his/her Bachelor’s degree.

b) (s)/he has obtained requisite marks or equivalent (as per item (4 or 5) above), based on latest available grades / marks.

Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the mark-sheet and a certificate of having passed the Bachelor's degree / equivalent qualification with requisite marks as per item (4 or 5) above. They must submit proof of passing their final examinations with requisite marks by Stipulated date. Non-fulfilment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission, no further communication will consider after last date.

7) Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programmes are eligible only if -

(a) the programmes are recognized by the DEC-IGNOU,

(b) they have passed the qualifying examination at the time of applying, with minimum 55%marks in average (50% for SC/ST/PwD) calculated as per item (4 or 5) above. They must enclose photocopies of pass certificate, marksheets of qualifying examination and proof of the programme recognized by the DEC-IGNOU in letter head of the Institute/College /University with their application.

Note: Appearing candidate in distance learning programmes, whose results are yet to be declared, are not eligible to apply.

Notes:

(1) Candidates with foreign diplomas should see the EdCIL website for equivalence (http://www.edcil.co.in), and if required should obtain an equivalence certificate from the evaluation division of the AIU (website http://www.aiuweb.org).

(2) In case any Board / University awards grades instead of marks, the calculation of equivalent marks would be based on the procedure prescribed by the Board / University. In case a University does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing obtained CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant with 100.

Reservations

Reservations:

Currently the Institute follows reservations as given below for its BIT MCA 2020 programme.

1. For all programmes at the Institute which are supported by any of the respective State Governments, the reservation criteria for the state quota are as per the norms of the respective State Government.

2. For all other programmes the reservation criteria for SC & ST are as per the statutory norms of Central Govt. (SC -15% & ST - 7.5%)

3. The Institute observes statutory reservation for Persons with Disability (5%).

4. Upto 6% of the seats at its Off Campuses are reserved for candidates who are sons and daughters of serving employees of BIT, who otherwise have qualified for admissions.

5. At all Campuses 50% of the total seats are reserved for candidates who have passed / are appearing for qualifying examination (graduation) from the state in which Campus is located.

Note: The “State of Eligibility” of a candidate for the purpose will be determined on the basis of location of his/her College where (s)/he has passed/is appearing for the qualifying examination / graduation).

In case sufficient numbers of suitable candidates from any group are not available, the Institute reserves the right to fill the seats from the other group.

Exam Pattern BIT MCA

Exam Pattern:

The MCA 2019 Online Entrance Test shall comprise of 120 questions to be answered in 2 hours. Questions will be of objective type with multiple choices out of which only one is correct. A candidate must select only the correct answer to score full marks.

Each correct answer a candidate will earn 4 marks. For every incorrect answer one mark will be deducted. If a question has not been attempted no credit will be given.

Syllabus:

Section A: Mathematics (60 questions – objective type-MCQs)

Algebra: Fundamental operations in Algebra, expansion, factorization, quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, binomial theorem, permutations and combinations, surds

Set Theory: Sets and subsets, operations on sets, sequences, properties of integers, relations and functions

Matrix Algebra: Elementary transformations, inverse of a matrix, rank, solution of simultaneous linear equations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, quadratic forms.

Co-ordinate Geometry: Rectangular Cartesian co-ordinates, equations of a line, mid-point, intersections etc., equations of a circle, distance formulae, pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, simple geometric transformations such as translation, rotation, scaling.

Selection Procedure BIT MCA 2020

Selection Procedure:

• The provisional selection will be made based on marks obtained by the candidate in BIT MCA 2020 Online Entrance Test conducted by the Institute, subject to fulfilling eligibility conditions mentioned under eligibility criteria.

• Candidates called for the verification of documents will be offered admission, subject to fulfilment of the eligibility conditions.

• The waitlisted candidates may be called for verification of documents and admission against the vacant seats, if any, in successive rounds, as required. The same will be intimated on the Institute website only as web notifications. No separate intimation will be sent to candidates.

Cancellation of Admission Offer:

The admission of a candidate will be automatically cancelled:

• if any information provided in the application form is found incorrect or missing.

• who fail to submit the final degree / qualifying examination in time as stipulated or fail to secure minimum eligible marks in the degree / qualifying examination.

Note: Eligible SC/ST, OBC, PwD students admitted to MCA programme at any of the Campus should submit their scholarship form in the Scholarship Section of the Campus for the academic year by February for processing scholarship to SC/ST, OBC, PwD students each year, as per UGC guidelines.

How to Apply for BIT MCA 2020

How to Apply:

1. To fill online application form, click on the link “CLICK HERE FOR NEW ADMISSION” to register and create password for the application process. Do not share the password with anybody.

2. Eligible candidates must complete and submit the application form online only [link available on the Institute website www.bitmesra.ac.in]. Pay application fee of Rs.2,500/- (General / OBC candidates) and Rs.1,500/- (SC/ST candidates) inclusive of GST charges through State Bank Collect (net banking / credit card of any nationalized bank) in favour of “Birla Institute of Technology” till the last date of application process. Fee once remitted shall not be refunded under any circumstances.

3. The candidates may select multiple choice of place for study MAXIMUM OF THREE CAMPUSES, in order of preference from the prompt. Candidates will not be permitted to alter their preferences at a later stage.

4. Candidates should proceed to fill the Online Application Form only after they satisfy themselves that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria.

Instructions for filling Online Application Form:

General Instructions:

1. Before applying online, candidates are advised to download the BIT MCA 2020 Information Brochure (pdf) and read it carefully.

2. Fill all items that are relevant to you in capital letters or numbers or tick (_) the check box / radio button as required. All items are mandatory and must be filled in; otherwise, the form may be rejected.

3. Please ensure that all information provided is correct and accurate. Admission on false information and certificate will be ipso facto null and void and also punishable under the various provision of Indian Penal Code.

4. Please ensure that all fields are correctly filled in before submitting the data. After filling the complete form, you will be prompted “Lock and Submit Application” button.

Once you click on the “Lock and Submit Application” button, the Form is set to read only. You may however return to the form to view or print it again.

5. After submission of application form, you will be prompted “Print Application Form”. Take a printout of application form by clicking on “Print Application Form” button and retain with you, as the same will be required to produce during counselling /admission.

6. Candidates who seek admission under any reservation category:

a) All candidates belonging to the SC, ST, BC-I or BC-II categories must obtain caste certificates which should be in proper format and should be signed by appropriate authority of rank not less than SDO. They must attach / upload a copy of the same.

(Note: The final reservation proportion will depend on notification, if any, issued by competent authority and as accepted by the Institute).

b) Candidates belonging to other special categories such as Persons with Disability must upload a copy of certificate in proper format from appropriate

authority and bring original copy of the same during counselling / admission, if called for.

Specific Instructions:

7. While filling the form please note the following:

On opening the webpage by clicking the link [“Click here to Apply Online” (under the relevant programme heading)]. A login page will be opened where you will see the following options:

• “CLICK HERE FOR NEW ADMISSION” (If you have not yet registered before and you are accessing this for first time). Pre-admission online Registration portal page will appear. Click on check boxes and proceed further.

Or, in case you have already registered and created a profile using a ‘Application Number’ and a ‘password’, re-enter the same in the box and click on ‘Sign In’.

a) For first time users: You will be prompted to enter your Full Name, Email ID, and Mobile number to register for the programme, click on CONTINUE button to proceed further, a confirmation message will appear, click on check box and submit.

b) A message will appear that your registration completed successfully and will show you your application Id / number generated. Kindly note it down for future correspondence. On registration, OTP will be generated and sent on your registered mobile number.

c) A new page will appear, where you need to enter OTP received on your registered mobile, create password and click on submit button. Please do not share the password with anybody. A message will appear on your screen that your password has been set successfully, please Login again.

d) After creation of password, please login again by entering your Application ID / number and password created. Click on ‘Sign In’ button to fill / complete the application form.

e) A new page will appear “Summary of Student Application Form – Profile Status” where candidates will be required to fill the following details. Fill correctly using instructions given below (‘i’ to ‘viii’):

i. Apply for the programme and Campus: Select programme type (Postgraduate), programme (MCA), Campus of place for study and Choice of Center for Online Test in order of preference. Click on Save and Continue button to fill other details.

ii. Personal & bank Details: Enter your personal and bank details as sought for.

iii. Address Details: Enter your correspondence, permanent address and latest mobile / contact number.

iv. Photograph & Signature Details: Upload your recent passport size colour photograph and signature in jpg format upto 25 KB only.

v. Upload Supportive / list of Documents / Enclosures: Upload all supportive documents / certificates as applicable.

vi. Educational Details: Enter your educational details and last qualification as sought for.

vii. Experience Details: Enter your experience details (if any) and click on Add button. If you do not have any experience, you may leave the same.

viii. Payment Details: click on the link State Bank Collect for the payment towards application fee as mention in the admission notification.

Note: A new page / screen will appear. Read the instructions on the screen carefully (candidate may use the net banking or credit card payment through any nationalized bank).

• On clicking the link “State Bank Collect” a disclaimer clause page will appear, where candidates must click on the check box to proceed for the payment.

• New page will appear where candidate need to select “Application Fee” from the drop-down box.

• Type / select the following details:

Name, Programme, Session, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, Caste/Category, Application Number, Candidate Address and Application form fee etc. (while filling form, please do not use special character e.g. % # @ & ^ - * etc. including brackets and commas).

• Take a print out of the payment receipt that is generated after successful payment transaction.

• Please enter the Transaction Number and date of transaction as provided on the payment receipt.

• After entering Transaction Number and date of transaction, click on the submit button.

Note:

(i) The original copy of the payment receipt should be attached along with printout of online application form.

(ii) Bank charges are extra and will be payable by the candidate only. Fee once remitted shall not be refunded under any circumstances.

Finishing Stage:

After completion of the above process, a new tab “Lock and Submit Application” button will appear only after verification of payment from the Bank. It may take 2-3 days to update the payment status. Once you click on the “Lock and Submit Application” button, the Form is set to read only. You may however return to the form to view or print it again.

Note: Take the print out of the Application Form and retain with you, as the same will be required to bring at the time of reporting for counselling / admission. BIT MCA 2020 Admit Cards

Admit Cards:

Admit card will be issued only to the candidates whose online applications are submitted successfully within the stipulated time. Candidates will be allotted a Test Center, date and time slot for the Test, as above. The Institute will try to allot the Test Center and date as per candidates’ preference as far as possible. However, the Institute reserves the right to shift candidates to an alternative Test Center / date, based on the number of candidates for a given Test Center / Test Center capacity.

The candidates should download their admit cards from the Institute website on or after stated date. If a candidate is unable to download the admit card, candidates should contact the Admissions Office at BIT Mesra, Ranchi by email at admissions@bitmesra.ac.in or telephone or fax.

“The admit card is not transferable to any other person. Impersonation is a punishable offence under law. No applicant will be allowed to appear for the Test without a valid admit card. The admit card will be required to be produced at the time of admission also. Therefore, all candidates are required to preserve the admit card until the admission process is complete”.

At the end of the online test, the score obtained by the candidates will be flashed on the computer screen. The invigilators will note the same on scribble pad and issue the same to the candidate and retain a copy for the Institute.

Notes:

1. The Institute reserves the right not to conduct the Test at a particular Center, if the number of candidates for that Center is less than a certain minimum.

2. Once a Test Center is allotted to a candidate, it will not be changed under any circumstances.

3. All candidates called for Online Entrance Test are allowed to appear in ‘online entrance test’ on purely provisional basis, subject to their eligibility being verified at the time of document verification cum admission. Merely being allowed to appear in the online test will not be considered as a ground for being eligible for admission.

BIT MCA 2020 Result

BIT MCA 2020 Result:

BIT MCA 2020 Result will be declared in the third week of June (tentative). It can be checked on the official website- bitmesra.ac.in, notice board of the institute and concerned off campuses. Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification and admission process at specified centers.

The number of rounds will be decided on the basis of seats available. Admission will be solely on the basis of the score of BIT MCA merit list.

BIT MCA 2020 Merit List

BIT MCA 2020 Merit List:

The merit list is prepared on the basis of the cut off of BIT MCA 2020. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the following:

  • Percentile of top scorer
  • Total number of candidates appearing in the exam
  • Marks obtained by each candidate
  • Difficulty level of the exam
  • Previous years’ cut-off

Candidates who clear the exam’s cut-off marks and have their names shortlisted in the merit list will be called for the interview. Those who appear for the counseling will get admission depending on the availability of the seats in the Institute of their preference after verification of documents. Candidate in the waitlist will be called if there are seats left vacant. 

BIT MCA 2020 Counselling

BIT MCA 2020 Counselling:

BIT MCA 2020 Counselling will commence once the result is declared the merit list is prepared after CBT exam. Details of the same can be checked on the website, www.bitmesra.ac.in. Selected candidates will be given a provisional seat which will be made permanent only after the successful verification of all documents. Candidates will have to report to the counseling center depending upon the result obtained by them and their location.

Documents Required at the Time of Counselling

Candidates must carry the originals of the following documents at the time of reporting for admission cum verification of documents, as well as one set of self-attested photocopies:

1. A print-out of the duly completed online form (original copy)

2. One recent colour photograph – [same as uploaded on the form]

3. Payment receipt towards application fee of Rs.2,500/- (General/ OBC) and Rs.1,500/- (SC/ST) candidates (non-refundable)

4. Pass certificate of Class 10 (as proof of age)

5. Marksheet of Class 10

6. Marksheet of Class 12 / Intermediate or equivalent
