About VITMEE

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University conducts Vellore Institute of Technology Masters Entrance Examination (VITMEE). Due to COVID-19 and nationwide lockdown in the country, this year the university has decided not to conduct VITMEE entrance examination. Candidates who wish to take admission in MTech/MCA courses at the VIT University’s Vellore and Chennai campus can apply on the basis of their academic result and performance in their BTech or graduation. Last date to apply for the admissions is June 20, 2020.

 

About VITMEE:

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University conducts Vellore Institute of Technology Masters Entrance Examination (VITMEE) to offer admissions to candidates in its Masters programmes (MCA / M.  Tech.). Through this entrance exam candidates can secure admissions in VIT University’s Vellore and Chennai campus. Apart from VITMEE, candidates can also secure admissions at VIT University’s MTech courses based on their GATE scores. MTech programmes are offered at VIT’s School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE), School of Bio Sciences and Technology (SBST), School of Mechanical and Building Sciences (SMBS), School of Electrical Engineering (SELECT), School of Information Technology and Engineering (SITE) and School of Electronics Engineering (SENSE). VITMEE is usually conducted in the month of June each year.

VIT has established a right culture of diversity and inclusivity in the campus; it welcomes unconventional thoughts, cross fertilization of ideas, autonomy, multi and transdisciplinary approaches. VIT has introduced many innovations in academic processes which add value to every student. FFCS (Fully Flexible Credit System), PBL (Project Based Learning) for better learning, fully digitized academic portals that assist students in equipping themselves for 2020 market place, Hackathons / Makeathons as part of curriculum exercise which kindles the interest and the curiosity of students, which moulds them to be better problem solvers, 8th module in every subject being handled by industry experts, making the students contextualize the concepts they study in the class-room, are a few of the innovations that VIT has introduced.

VITMEE 2020 Eligibility

VITMEE 2020 Eligibility:

Nationality:

The applicant for admission should be a Resident Indian National and should have graduated from Institutions located in India. Foreign and NRI/ PIO applications are to be made separately. Please visit the International Relations tab in VIT website.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates should have graduated with a full-time degree from any recognized University/Institute with a minimum aggregate of 60% or 1st class for MCA and M. Tech. degree programmes.
  • Consistent Record in X and XII Std is required.
  • Candidates appearing for their final degree exam / final semester exam in the current year are also eligible to apply.
  • Candidates should have completed their final Semester/year exams before the selection interview at VIT.
  • The candidates should produce statement of final year marks and Provisional degree certificate before August 15th, 2020, failing which admission will be cancelled with the forfeit of admission fee.

VITMEE 2020 Admission Process

VITMEE 2020 Admission Process:

The applicants should apply online or mobile app in the respective link provided in the website (www.vit.ac.in) by paying a non-refundable application fee.

 No VIT Entrance Examination (VITMEE) for admission in session 2020-21.

 Direct Admission to GATE Qualified Students (applicable to M.Tech Candidates only).

 Non-GATE and MCA Candidates will be admitted based on academic records (upto pre final year performance).

 The list of short-listed candidates will be published in the website on 29th June, 2020 [Tentative] and also SMS will be send to the registered mobile number.

 The applicants should also have their scanned copy of photo and signature ready to upload.

 The payment can be made online using net banking/ credit / debit cards / paytm.

VITMEE 2020 Payment mode:

Candidates can pay their application fee for VITMEE by either of the given mediums: Net Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card/ DD. Candidates who wants to pay the application fee through DD need to mention their name, application number, address and mobile number on the back side of their DD and send this DD with the printout of their filled-in VITMEE 2020 online application form.

Note: Admissions at VIT University are ensured through counselling, depending on the rank secured by a candidate in VITMEE 2020. However, preference will be given to any candidate who has a better score in GATE and is seeking MTech admission at VIT University.

VITMEE Counselling

VITMEE Counselling:

VIT releases the list of qualified candidates in the entrance exam online at its official website. Qualifiers in the entrance exam are then eligible to appear for and interview/ VITMEE counselling at Vellore/ Chennai/VIT-Bhopal/VIT-AP. On the day of the counselling, candidates need to submit the relevant documents for verification and pay the admission fee to confirm their seat. Candidates are allowed to participate in VITMEE counselling only after the verification of document.

Admissions in MTech Software Engineering:

Candidates will not have to appear for any entrance exam in order to secure admission in VIT University’s MTech programme in Software Engineering. Admissions in this course will be done through a counselling round. Candidates will be called for counselling on the basis of a merit list which will be formed on the below mentioned criteria:

Aggregate marks secured by a candidate in their 10+2/ Higher Secondary Examination for UG / MSc Biotechnology (5 year integrated) programme.

Total marks secured by the candidate in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics in their 10+2/Higher Secondary Examination for MTech (Software Engineering).

Industry Sponsored Candidate:

There are a few seats reserved for candidates sponsored by Research Organizations / Industries for the M.Tech. degree programmes.

Sponsored candidates should submit their applications through the proper channel in the given proforma.

The Candidates should send the sponsorship letter/certificate along with a copy of the downloaded application by post on or be-fore last date.
