DU MCA 2020:

Delhi University (DU) Department of Computer Science invites applications from eligible candidates for admission to Master of Computer Applications (MCA) DU Entrance Test for the Three - Year Master of Computer Applications (MCA) Programs at the department was started in 1982 and was among the first such programs in India. Since then, it has been immensely popular and one of the most sought after courses in India.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is the conducting body for Delhi University Master of Computer Applications (DU MCA) entrance examination. The authorities have announced official exam schedule for DU MCA 2020, DU MCA exam 2020 shall be conducted on some day between June 2 and June 9, 2020. DU MCA 2020 result shall be declared in online mode on June 25 which will shows the marks and rank obtained by a candidate in the exam. This will be followed by interview and group discussions (G.D.) which will be followed by counselling sessions.

Then, cut off lists will be released based on both marks obtained in the DU MCA exam along with performance in the interview and G.D. session. DU MCA is an online multiple-choice based exam which will be conducted for a duration of 2 hours.

Eligibility Criteria

DU MCA Eligibility Criteria 2020:

The eligibility criteria of DU MCA 2020 have some Eligibility Criteria a candidate to be eligible for appearing in the entrance exam. DU MCA 2020 aspirants can check the eligibility criteria below:

Qualifying Examination

Candidates must have completed their Bachelors (with at least one paper in Mathematical Sciences under annual mode/ at least two papers in Mathematical Sciences in semester mode) from DU or any other university whose examination is recognized as equivalent to that of DU.

Qualifying Marks

Candidates must have scored a minimum of 60% marks overall (or equivalent CGPA). Relaxation to special categories is provided.

 

Note: The candidates who have appeared in the final year examinations of the degree on the basis of which admission is sought are also eligible. They have to submit their result at the time of the admission.

Admission Procedure:

Admission to MCA programme is based on Entrance Exam and Interview. For preparing the final merit list, 85% weightage will be given to the score in the entrance exam and 15% weightage will be given to the score in the interview. The entrance examination shall be of two hours duration.

Detailed Syllabus of Mathematics:

Calculus:

Limit and continuity of a function: (ε-δ and sequential approach). Properties of continuous functions including intermediate value theorem, Differentiability, Rolle’s theorem, Lagrange’s mean value theorem, Cauchy mean value theorem with geometrical interpretations. Uniform continuity. Definitions and techniques for finding asymptotes singular points, Tracing of standard curves. Integration of irrational functions. Reduction formulae. Rectification. Quadrature. Volumes Sequences to be introduced through the examples arising in Science beginning with finite sequences, followed by concepts of recursion and difference equations. For instance, the sequence arising from Tower of Hanoi game, the Fibonacci sequence arising from branching habit of trees and breeding habit of rabbits. Convergence of a sequence and algebra of convergent sequences. Illustration of proof of convergence of some simple sequences such as (–1)n/n, I/n2, (1+1/n)n, sin n/n, xn with 0 < x < 1. Geometry and Vector Calculus:

Techniques for sketching parabola, ellipse and hyperbola. Reflection properties of parabola, ellipse and hyperbola. Classification of quadratic equations representing lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola. Differentiation of vector valued functions, gradient, divergence, curl and their geometrical interpretation. Spheres, Cylindrical surfaces. Illustrations of graphing standard quadric surfaces like cone, ellipsoid.

ALGEBRA:

Complex Numbers: Geometrical representation of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of complex numbers. Lines half planes, circles, discs in terms of complex variables. Statement of the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra and its consequences, De Moivre’s theorem for rational indices and its simple applications.

Matrices: R, R2, R3 as vector spaces over R. Standard basis for each of them. Concept of Linear Independence and examples of different bases. Subspaces of R2, R3. Translation, Dilation, Rotation, Reflection in a point, line and plane. Matrix form of basic geometric transformations. Interpretation of eigenvalues and eigenvectors for such transformations and eigenspaces as invariant subspaces. Matrices in diagonal form. Reduction to diagonal form upto matrices of order 3. Computation of matrix inverses using elementary row operations. Rank of matrix. Solutions of a system of linear equations using matrices. Illustrative examples of above concepts from Geometry, Physics, Chemistry, Combinatorics and Statistics.

Groups: Definition and examples of groups, examples of abelian and nonabelian groups: the group Zn of integers under addition modulo n and the group U (n) of units under multiplication modulo n. Cyclic groups from number systems, complex roots of unity, circle group, the general linear group GL (n,R), groups of symmetries of (i) an isosceles triangle, (ii) an equilateral triangle, (iii) a rectangle, and (iv) a square, the permutation group Sym (n), Group of quaternions, Subgroups, cyclic subgroups, the concept of a subgroup generated by a subset and the commutator subgroup of group, examples of subgroups including the center of a group. Cosets, Index of subgroup, Lagrange’s theorem, order of an element, Normal subgroups: their definition, examples, and characterizations, Quotient groups.

Rings: Definition an example of rings, examples of commutative and noncommutative rings, rings from number systems, Zn the ring of integers modulo n, ring of real quaternions, rings of matrices, polynomial rings, and rings of continuous functions. Subrings and ideals, Integral domains and fields, examples of fields: Zp, Q, R, and C. Field of rational functions.

Vector spaces: Definition and examples of vector spaces. Subspaces and its properties Linear independence, basis, invariance of basis size, dimension of a vector space. Linear Transformations on real and complex vector spaces: definition, examples, kernel, range, rank, nullity, isomorphism theorems.

Real Analysis:

Real Sequences: Finite and infinite sets, examples of countable and uncountable sets. Real line, bounded sets, suprema and infima, statement of order completeness property of R, Archimedean property of R, intervals. Concept of cluster points and statement of Bolzano Weierstrass’ theorem. Cauchy convergence criterion for sequences. Cauchy’s theorem on limits, order preservation and squeeze theorem, monotone sequences and their convergence.

Infinite Series: Infinite series. Cauchy convergence criterion for series, positive term series, geometric series, comparison test, convergence of p-series, Root test, Ratio test, alternating series, Leibnitz’s test. Definition and examples of absolute and conditional convergence. Sequences and series of functions, Pointwise and uniform convergence. M-test, change or order of limits. Power Series: radius of convergence, Definition in terms of Power series and their properties of exp (x), sin (x), cos (x).

Riemann Integration: Riemann integral, integrability of continuous and monotonic functions.

Application Form

Online Application Form:

DUET 2020 Application process for DU MCA will be available from March 2, 2020 and will conclude on March 31, 2020. Application process will be completely online. The application forms will be available on the official website. The steps to fill the application form are as follows:

Step 1 – Registration

Applicants have to register themselves by entering their e-mail id, mobile number, and password after which a login id will be generated.

Step 2 – Application Form Filling

Once the login ID is created, candidates have to fill the online application form by providing personal and academic details as per certificate of education. Candidates have to select the course for which they want to take the test while filling the application form.

Step 3 – Document Upload

Candidates have to upload scanned images of the documents given below:

  • Photograph
  • Signature
  • Photo ID Proof (Aadhar Card/Driving License/ PAN Card/Voter's Identity Card/Passport/College Identity Card)
  • Class X Certificate
  • Class XII Certificate
  • Caste Certificate (if required)
  • Minority Certificate (if required)
  • PwD Certificate (if required)
  • CW Certificate (if required)

Click on ‘Save Application’ and review the application.

Thereafter, candidates will get three options: 'Click to Modify Application', 'Pay Fee' and 'My Home'.

Step 4 – Application Fee Payment

Candidates can pay the application fee by clicking on – “Click to Make Payment”. The application fee can be paid using a Net Banking /Credit Card/ Debit Card. The non-refundable application fees for different categories are tabulated below

Step 5 – Download Application Form

Once all the steps mentioned above are completed, save and submit the application form and download the same for future correspondence.

Admit Card

DU MCA 2020 Admit Card:

DU MCA Admit Card will be released by NTA on April 30, 2020. Successfully registered candidates will be able to download their admit card from the official website i.e. du.ac.in and nta.ac.in.

Note: Admit card will be released on the online mode and no admit card was sent via post.

How to Download Admit Card:

Below given are the steps to download the DU MCA Admit Card.

  1. Visit the official website i.e. du.ac.in. or nta.ac.in
  2. Click on the link stating - “DU MCA 2020 - Admit Card Link’.
  3. Enter your Application Form Number and Date of Birth.
  4. Click on - Login.
  5. DU MCA Admit Card will be displayed on the screen.
  6. Download and print the admit card for future reference.

Documents to Carry at DUET Exam Center:

There are certain documents mandatory to carry at the DUET exam center on the exam day. Following is the list of the required documents. 

  • Printed Admit Card
  • One Passport-sized Photograph
  • Anyone Photo ID Proof (PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID card/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (with photograph) etc.)
  • PwD Certificate issued by Competent Authority

Answer Key

DU MCA Answer Key 2020:

After completion of conduct of DU MCA exam NTA shall release an interim answer key. There will be question paper shows candidate's responses as well as the actual answers of those questions.

In case there are some questions whose proposed responses do not consider correct to the candidate, candidate will be subject to file objection on such answers. Candidates will be given a deadline before which, they will have to raise objections.

Candidates can also be able to calculate their score; by this response sheet one can to get an idea of his/her position in the exam. This interim answer key will be followed by a final answer key as well which will be released along with DU MCA result declaration.

Result

DU MCA Result 2020:

NTA shall declare the DU MCA 2020 result on June 25 in online mode. The result will be announced on the website of Delhi University as well as the NTA website. There will be a pdf file which containing the names, roll number, marks, rank and category of candidates in the DU MCA result 2020, those candidates qualified the DU MCA exam as well as those who could not. The final answer key will be released along with the result itself.

MCA Cutoff

DU MCA Cutoff 2020:

The DU will conduct the interview and group discussion (G.D.) after declaration of DU MCA 2020 result. The interview will have a weightage of 15%, and the final admission list/ cutoff list will be released which will be based on cumulative score of aptitude exams as well as interview and G.D. DU MCA 2020 counselling will take place for candidates whose names are mentioned in these lists which will be released category wise.
